Selling upsells on Airbnb

Learn how Airbnb upsells work, how Milo guides guests through the Airbnb Resolution Center payment process, and how purchases are confirmed automatically.

How Airbnb upsells work

The payment flow for Airbnb upsells is different from other booking channels.

For direct bookings or other OTAs, guests can receive a payment link and complete the purchase directly.

On Airbnb, external payment links are not allowed. Guests must complete the payment through Airbnb’s Resolution Center.

Milo guides the guest through the required steps, then confirms the upsell once the payment has been completed.

Available Airbnb upsells

You can sell the following upsells through Airbnb:

  • Early check-in

  • Late checkout

  • Extra nights

  • Custom upsells

Each upsell can include multiple options with different prices.

Example:

Early check-in

  • 2 PM → $15

  • 1 PM → $25

  • 12 PM → $35

  • Anytime from 10 AM → $50

Because guests enter the amount themselves in Airbnb, Milo displays all available options instead of only showing one price.

How the Airbnb upsell process works

1. Milo sends the upsell options

When a guest requests an additional service, Milo provides:

  • Available options

  • Prices

  • Instructions to complete the payment through Airbnb

The guest is guided through:

Airbnb → Resolution Center → Send money → Extra services → Enter the amount → Add the upsell name in the Note field → Send

2. Guest completes payment on Airbnb

The guest completes the payment directly through Airbnb’s Resolution Center.

Millenium Connect and Milo do not collect the payment or create the charge on the guest’s behalf.

3. Milo confirms the purchase

After completing the payment, the guest replies with the option they purchased.

Example:

"I purchased 1 PM early check-in."

Milo verifies:

  • The amount received from Airbnb

  • The option confirmed by the guest

If both match, Milo confirms the upsell and updates the reservation.

If the information does not match, Milo does not confirm the request and escalates it to the property manager.

Holding availability

For upsells that affect availability, such as early check-in, late checkout, or extra nights, Milo can temporarily hold the requested option while waiting for payment confirmation.

The guest receives a deadline to complete the purchase.

If the payment is not completed before the deadline:

  • The offer expires

  • The availability is released

  • The request is no longer reserved

Important notes

  • Airbnb payments must always be completed through Airbnb’s Resolution Center.

  • Guests should never be asked to pay through external payment links.

  • Milo uses the Airbnb reservation confirmation code to generate the correct Resolution Center link.

  • If the Airbnb confirmation code is missing, Milo will not send a payment link and will escalate the request.

The same process applies to all Airbnb upsells. Only the available options and instructions change depending on the upsell type.
